November 2017 wrap up
November was a good month! I read some AMAZING books this month. After a very disappointing October where I read all the wrong books
for all the right reasons I just noticed that I was reading the wrong genres and tricking myself into believing I would like those books. But not anymore! I’m just going to focus even more on young adult books and leave all the other adult genres behind for a little while!
I also celebrated my 3 year anniversary with my boyfriend! I can’t believe it has been this long already! ?
I got approved for 2 books this month! I didn’t request a lot of books this month because my currently reading list is a mess. I’m reading so many books and series at the same time and I just want to read everything at once! So I decided that I wouldn’t torture myself by making it even more difficult for myself!
1. By a Charm and a curse – Jaime Questell
Le Grand’s Carnival Fantastic isn’t like other traveling circuses. It’s bound by a charm, held together by a centuries-old curse, that protects its members from ever growing older or getting hurt.
To me, this sounds like a book that can’t go wrong! I haven’t read The Night Circus yet, but I did read Caraval and although the characters completely ruined that book for me, I did really like the setting and overall concept of the story. So, I hope this book will be a “better Caraval” for me!
2. Blood Will Out – Jo Treggiari
Ari Sullivan is alive—for now.
She wakes at the bottom of a cistern, confused, injured and alone, with only the shadowy recollection of a low-pitched voice and a gloved hand. No one can hear her screams. And the person who put her there is coming back. The killer is planning a gruesome masterpiece, a fairytale tableau of innocence and blood, meticulously designed.
I truly hope this one will be a real thriller! I read to many mysteries that claimed to be a thriller but just never went farther than a boring police mystery (and I actually really don’t like mysteries that aren’t thrillers!). This one definitely will be a hit or miss for me. If it has a lot of tension, I’m sure I will love it. If they lied to me and it’s just a boring mystery than I will have to rant, there’s just no way around that!
Goodreads Give Away
I won my first ever give away on Goodreads! I tried for over a year to win a book on Goodreads and I entered over 400 give aways. Finally I won one! (I hope I will win one a bit sooner again now!) I really didn’t expected to win a book so I almost screamed when I got the mail!?
I even got a signed book! ?
I’m almost halfway through this book now and it’s a fairly decent read so far. It was sooo slooooow in the beginning and I feel like the story is only just beginning! Let’s see were it takes me!
Read in November
1. A Darker Shade of Magic (shades of magic #1) – V.E. Schwab
This book has some gorgeous characters and settings. It’s very easy to see the world that’s been created in these pages. If you like to read fantasy, I think this is a must read!
Bad ass magicians and there are 4 different Londons, so what’s not to love?
2.Daughter of the Pirate King (Daughter of the Pirate King #1) – Tricia Levenseller
I feel like October was filled with kick-ass women and this one was the most kick-ass of them all! I finished it in less than 24 hours and it really was THAT good! The next book in the series in coming out in February and I really can’t wait to see what will happen next!
If you love pirates, magic and forbidden romances than you shouldn’t wait any longer to read this!
3.Daughter of Smoke and Bone (Daughter of Smoke and Bone #1) – Laini Taylor
I read Strange the Dreamer (The best book of 2017!) earlier this year and after I finished that one I just had to read this series as well! It’s set in magical Prague and it just is a perfect book for me. It has a bit of forbidden romance, a girl who doesn’t need any one to save her and A LOT of spooky magic!
4.Missing (Lyn Kramer Mystery, #1) – Ann Jones
This is something I don’t normally read, it’s more of a police mystery and it was a really fast read! If you like short page turners, you should definitely try this!
5. Truly madly guilty – Liane Moriarty
Earlier this year I read Big Little Lies and that one was so goood. I did this one as an audio book and it’s the absolute perfect book when you listen to audio books while doing different things. I do think my opinions on this book would be different if I would have just read the book. So I do recommend to listen to this.
6. Days of Blood & Starlight (Daughter of Smoke & Bone #2) – Laini Taylor
The second book of Daughter of Smoke and Bone was A LOT darker. But I still liked it so much! I really hope the last one will be a bit less melancholic because I don’t think I would be able to handle an ending that was as dark as this book!
If you want to capture the atmosphere of this book in a song, just listen to this:
If you like dark fantasy that eats you alive and spits you back out, with forbidden love and a lot of twists, than you have to read this series!
Thank you so much for reading until the end of my post!! I hope you enjoyed reading this!
What books have you read this month? Let me know in the comments!
See you next time!
