Thou shalt kill.
A world with no hunger, no disease, no war, no misery. Humanity has conquered all those things, and has even conquered death. Now scythes are the only ones who can end life—and they are commanded to do so, in order to keep the size of the population under control.
Citra and Rowan are chosen to apprentice to a scythe—a role that neither wants. These teens must master the “art” of taking life, knowing that the consequence of failure could mean losing their own.
Wow, this book just blew me right of my socks! IT WAS SO GOOD!! I don’t know if I’m going to be able to say a single bad thing about this book.
Maybe you’ve read my Top Ten Tuesday post, where I listed 10 books I wasn’t sure I wanted to read. Well, this book was on that list and it’s safe to say that it really didn’t deserve it’s place on there, because clearly it was just the book for me! I want to thank everyone who advised me to read that book! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I’m not 100% sure yet, but I think I found a new favourite series.
It’s ruthless and sassy and it makes you think about life in a whole new way.
It’s such a strange view of our society. And the idea is both revolting and very appealing at the same time. A perfect society were everyone can do what they truly want and get to be completely happy sounds so amazing. The part were a computer program pumps you full of chemicals to make you have all those happy thoughts is a bit less appealing. As someone who is at the end of her last year of engineering this world IS SO APPEALING. I wouldn’t have to get my diploma in that world! Right now I would love love love to live in that future 😂. I’m pretty sure my opinion will be slightly different in a few months when all that stress is gone!
Conclusion: Everyone needs to read this series it’s so amazing!!!
