Top Ten Tuesday: Books With The Best Quotes
Welcome to this week’s Top Ten Tuesday!
After a few weeks of being sick and not feeling like blogging and overall not being myself. I’m completely back in the game and ready to write some better posts again. I’m sorry that my posts weren’t always the best lately, trying to get my engineering degree has been quite the struggle lately. Only a few months left!
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. This week’s theme is “Favorite Book Quotes”, but I’m just going to list my top books with many great quotes in them! I hope you’ll enjoy my list!
1. How to Be a Bawse: A Guide to Conquering Life – Lilly Singh
If you have ever watched Superwoman on Youtube you know she can produce oneliners at the same rate as Trump writes Tweets! If you have never heard of her, don’t worry, she has only 13+ million followers on youtube, it’s quite normal ?. It’s the only book by a famous Youtuber I have ever read and although I didn’t think it was amazing, it had some really funny quotes.
If you are in a big need of some good motivation and don’t need one of those serious boring books, this might be the one for you.
If you are in need of some serious motivation, right now, watch this!
Think of discomfort as currency- it’s the price you pay to learn some pretty crucial things.
Say what you mean, but don’t say it mean.
So if you’re drowning, keep your life jacket on and fight. But once you’re able to swim, don’t convince yourself you forgot how to. Take your life jacket off, front-crawl your way to the shore, walk off that beach, and set your GPS to the top of a hill, because you WILL conquer the climb.
2. Strange the Dreamer – Laini Taylor
The writing of this book entrances me completely. One of my absolute favourite books ever and it’s gorgeous on the inside AND on the outside. Every time I read this one I get sucked in this amazing world and it actually feels like I’m walking around inside this book. It’s like this book is written specifically for my mind and imagination, it’s a really crazy and amazing feeling that I didn’t have with any other book I ever read.
If you’re afraid of your own dreams, you’re welcome here in mine.
I think you’re a fairy tale. I think you’re magical, and brave, and exquisite. And I hope you’ll let me be in your story.
I turned my nightmares into fireflies and caught them in a jar.
3. The Hate U Give – Angie Thomas
You can make an entire post about all the amazing thing Starr’s mom says in this book. She’s so amazing. This book consists of one oneliner after the other and it’s overall great. If, you haven’t read this book yet, you probably had many reviewers tell you that you really should read it. I’m going to be the next one to tell you that you really should read this book.
Brave doesn’t mean you’re not scared. It means you go on even though you’re scared.
Sometimes you can do everything right and things will still go wrong. The key is to never stop doing right.
What’s the point of having a voice if you’re gonna be silent in those moments you shouldn’t be?
At an early age I learned that people make mistakes, and you have to decide if their mistakes are bigger than your love for them.
4. Truly Madly Guilty – Liane Moriarty
I thought this book was funny and serious at the same time it’s a perfect beach read if you ask me (I read it on a beach, so this theorie has been tested). The many great quotes make this book an even better read.
You could jump so much higher when you had somewhere safe to fall.
Everyone had another sort of life up their sleeve that might have made them happy.
There is no special protection when you cross that invisible line from your ordinary life to that parallel world where tragedies happen. It happens just like this. You don’t become someone else. You’re still exactly the same. Everything around you still smells and looks and feels exactly the same.
5. Animal Farm – George Orwell
One of the most famous book quotes ever come from this book. It’s such a crazy book that makes you doubt so many things about this world. It’s also one of the only (if it’s isn’t the only) classic I really enjoyed reading. I have quite enjoyed other classics, but this is the only one I really liked.
All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.
The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.
Man serves the interests of no creature except himself.
6. A Street Cat Named Bob: And How He Saved My Life – James Bowen
Maybe not the book with the best quotes in this book, but the quotes either have a great message or they are really funny. It’s a non-fiction book and their quotes mean automatically more to me because they are based on real situations. So, this book had to be in the list.
Beggars can’t be choosers
Everybody needs a break, everybody deserves that second chance. Bob and I had taken ours.
Cats are notoriously picky about who they like. And if a cat doesn’t like its owner it will go and find another one. Cats do that all the time.
7. Eragon – Christopher Paolini
This book has a quite famous quote about books and it’s one of my favourite books, so it was an auto-add for this list.
Books are my friends, my companions. They make me laugh and cry and find meaning in life.
Live in the present, remember the past, and fear not the future, for it doesn’t exist and never shall. There is only now.
Keep in mind that many people have died for their beliefs; it’s actually quite common. The real courage is in living and suffering for what you believe.
Eragon looked back at him, confused. “I don’t understand.”
“Of course you don’t,” said Brom impatiently. “That’s why I’m teaching you and not the other way around.
8. The Kite Runner – Khaled Hosseini
Many of the quotes in this book are quite heavy and really make you think, I get emotional again just by reading the quotes again. Such a beautiful book. One of the must reads on this list.
When you kill a man, you steal a life. You steal his wife’s right to a husband, rob his children of a father. When you tell a lie, you steal someone’s right to the truth. When you cheat, you steal the right to fairness.
There are a lot of children in Afghanistan, but little childhood.
9. Harry Potter – J.K. Rowling
Another book that just couldn’t be left out of this list. I feel like I’m including the Harry Potter series in every TTT post I make.
It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.
It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends.
Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?
To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.
Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all those who live without love.
We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided.
Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.
10. A Court of Mist and Fury – Sarah J. Maas
For me, the second book of the A Court of Thorns and Roses series is the best book Sarah J. Maas. It also has the best quotes out of all her books. The quote mostly are a bit too sticky for me, but they are still great.
To the people who look at the stars and wish, Rhys.”
Rhys clinked his glass against mine. “To the stars who listen— and the dreams that are answered.
When you spend so long trapped in darkness, Lucien, you find that the darkness begins to stare back.
Those are some wonderful quotes!!!
Thanks you so much!
Strange the Dreamer has the best quotes <3 Though Laini Taylor’s writing is magical all around, so I’m not surprised 🙂
I totally agree, it just had to be on my list! ?
So many good answers! I probably could have picked 10 quotes from Harry Potter alone!
Yes, it wouldn’t even have been that difficult to find them.?
Fabulous choices! 🙂 So many good quotes. Harry Potter is so quotable.
Thank you so much. Yes, it was the first book I thought of for this list ?
Some great quotes. What a surprise to see Strange the Dreamer on your list. 😉
I tried to do it without the book, but it almost felt like a betrayal ?
I’m going to try and not talk about Strange the Dreamer for a month or so! ? (No promises though ?)
I love Animal Farm! I’ve only actually read a Spanish translation of it, so I need to reread it in English ASAP. Orwell is such a brilliant writer.
It has been a couple of years for me since I read it so I need a reread too! ?
I urged my sons to read Animal Farm because it is such a powerful story. I’ve only read Hate U once but I’m sure it will be a book many will come back to again and again.

I’m also trying to make my family read Animal Farm. It’s a really great lesson!
I’m probably also going to reread that book many times.
I love the Strange the Dreamer quotes you’ve picked. I listed the third one on my post this week too. It’s such a beautifully written book.
