Top Ten Tuesday: My Favourite Bookish Couples
I think a good love story is hard to find! Many romances are either too much and feel almost soggy. others are just not enough and leave me wanting more! But sometimes I do come across some GREAT love stories and they tend to stick to me and never come of. They leave a mark and make me all warm and fussy inside for the next month or two! This week I’m making a list of my favourite bookish couples!
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. I know this was last week’s theme, bit I was sick last week and I really wanted to post this, so I decided to do it this week either way.
1. Outlander – Diana Gabaldon
Jamie & Clair
Jamie was one of my very first bookish crushes. I actually haven’t had that many bookish boyfriend trough the years I think I can count them on one hand so that says a lot about Jamie Fraser. I love Jamie and Clair as a couple because they were the very first mature relationship I ever read about. Romance in YA books only goes so far and is often extremely unrealistic. I’m not saying that Outlander has the most realistic relationship ever, but it is a lot better than most YA relationships! Before this book I had read some adult books (like the hobbit…), but never with romance in them. The funny thing is that I read the first book 5 times (the first time is more than 7 years ago) already and I have read books 2,3 and 4 all 2 times but I’m only now reading the fifth book for the first time. I just try to savour this series as much as I can I guess and I’m moving so slowly because I will have such a hard time if I ever finish this series!
2. Court of Thorns and Roses – Sarah J. Maas
Feyre & Rhysand
I’m so happy we get another book narrated by these cuties. After the ending we got in book 3, I was extremely disappointing that I invested so much of my emotions into this book only to be completely let down by the ending of that trilogy. I actually really liked the first book, and when I heard that the second book was even better I just couldn’t believe it! RHYSAND! I thought I was too old to crush that hard on a fictional character, but Sarah J. Maas proved me wrong so hard.
They are also a really good match. Both a bit too over the top, but that just makes this book so great!
3. Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue – Mackenzi Lee
Henry & Percy Newton
Although there relationship went excruciatingly slow at times they still were so good together. I love how they really change each other for the better. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows in this relationship (everything but, most times..) and that’s okay. I loved these two as a couple from chapter one!
4. Strange the Dreamer – Laini Taylor
Lazlo & Sarai
My favourite YA book of 2017 has one of my all time favourite couples! This book felt like a romance book but actually wasn’t that romance heavy. I loved the feel of this book so much and their complete cuteness only made it so much better!
I’m also so happy we finally got a release date and a cover for Muse of Nightmares!! That cover is everything! I need to reread Strange the Dreamer ASAP so I can get into the vibe again!
5. Throne of Glass – Sarah J. Maas
Elide & Lorcan
Aelin and her complicated love life doesn’t interest me all that much anymore. It’s to extreme and complicated and intense. But Elide and Lorcan are the biggest cuties ever. Elide just seemed like such a silent unimportant girl and I love how she changed in the last book. I really should reread the last two or three books that came out before Tower of Dawn because I really forgot 50% of the story… I hope we get a lot of Elide & Lorcan in the last book!
6. Night of Cake and Puppets (Daughter of Smoke and Bones #2.5) – Laini Taylor
Zuzana & Mik
After I finished the novella A Night of Cake and Puppets I just wanted to take the first plane to Prague and live a night like the one in the story. They. Are. EVERYTHING! Zuzana is a force to be reckoned with and he just let everything wash over him. They are the perfect real life couple.
7. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them – J.K. Rowling
Queenie & Jacob
Queenie & Jacob didn’t get the chance to really turn into a real couple, but I still want to give them a spot in this list. I love them because they are such an unexpected couple. I hope we’ll see more of them in the movies/books that still have to come!
8. Burn for me – Ilona Andrews
Nevada Baylo & Connor “Mad” Rogan
The author duo Ilona Andrews create little pieces of magic every time they write a book. They can make action filled books feel like you read about a basket filled with puppies and their romances always feel so warm and amazing. This couple is my favourite so far out of all the books I read by them. Please give us more stories featuring these two. I really miss them.
9. Full Tilt – Emma Scott
Kacey Dawson & Jonah Fletcher
I’m not someone who usually cries over a story. Even wet eyes aren’t that common with me. But, this book made me cry my eyes out. Another rather unexpected couple. It’s a beautiful love story and a real guilty pleasure of me. A rock star and a limo driver who end up being the most heart breaking couple in the history of romance books!
10. The November Girl – Lydia Kang
Hector & Anda
If you love character development and complicated characters than you’ll be a fan of this couple. I don’t think it can get any more complicated than this. A run away with an abusive uncle in a relationship with a girl who’s mom literally is a lake. The “It’s complicated” option is created for these two!
